On 5 August 2010, Solís received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has worked with Olga Tañón, Ana Bárbara, Enrique Iglesias, Chayanne, Marc Anthony and Anaís, among others. Īs a solo artist he has remained popular in his native Mexico as well throughout Latin America and Spain, and the United States with more than thirty entries on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart, including multiple number one hits. ![]() In 1995, after almost 20 years of working with the group, he decided to pursue a solo career. As lead singer and chief songwriter of Los Bukis, Solís became known in the industry for outside writing and producing for popular singers such as Marisela and Rocío Dúrcal. In the mid-1970s he formed " Los Bukis" with whom he achieved success in Mexico, Central America, South America, and the United States. Marco Antonio Solís began performing at age six as part of "Los Hermanitos Solís" with his cousin, Joel Solís. In 2022, Solís was recognized as Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy. Solís has been awarded five Latin Grammy Awards, two Lo Nuestro Awards, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and has been inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame. Solís released his first solo album, En Pleno Vuelo in 1996 by Fonovisa Records. The band split up after nearly two decades of success, with Solís pursuing a solo career. Solis: “Oh, they all laugh at me, because I sometimes take it with me to the gym. Q: Do you still record with a little tape recorder? If I go walk somewhere, for example, you can feel the energy, the positive vibrations, the quietness, and suddenly, the words come.” There are many things we don’t see, but we feel. Everything is always there, floating invisibly. Q: Your new album is titled “No Molestar” (Don’t Bother), after the single of the same name. What’s important to me is what I leave on the stage.” It’s taken me a long time, and I want to take care of it as much as possible. I want to give honesty to the name and not tie it with business transactions. I don’t feel comfortable selling products. Q: In this day and age when musicians are focused on branding, it appears you don’t have any sponsorships. Perhaps a better term is simply ‘Mexican music.’ What I find across all countries is a very similar sensibility.” With the proper orchestration and the right show, we can play with what’s considered regional Mexican, but we can also sing the big ballads, like any other pop soloist.
